Selling to a minor is illegal! There are consequences to pay!
Illegal Sales (Person and Retailer):
· sells a tobacco product to any minor
· places a tobacco vending machine in a location accessible to minors
· sells a cigarette for sale out of a pack of cigarettes
· places tobacco products where a customer can handle them before purchase unless in the line of sight or under the control of an employee.
Fines for a Person/Employee:
· 1st offense, between $100 and $250
· 2nd offense, between $250 and $500
· 3rd or more offenses, between $500 and $1,000
Fines for a Tobacco Retailer:
· 1st offense, between $100 and $500
· 2nd offense, between $500 and $1,000
· 3rd or more offenses, between $1,000 and $3,000
· 4th or more offenses, between $3,000 and $5,000
