In an historic victory for America's children and health, Congress and President Obama in June 2009 gave the U.S. Food and Drug Administration the authority to regulate the manufacturing, marketing and sale of tobacco products. This new law ended the special protection from regulation that the tobacco industry enjoyed for decades and represents a milestone in protecting Americans from the devastating health consequences of tobacco use.1

The Tobacco Free Program will keep you up-to-date with periodic educational and action alert messages. Some advocate activities include:
• Making telephone calls to your legislators’ district and Harrisburg offices
• Sending e-mail blasts about the tobacco programs impact
• Visiting your legislators in the district or at their offices in Harrisburg
Action Alerts are urgent notices sent by the Tobacco Free Program on tobacco-related issues asking for e-mail and/or phone calls to legislators with a quick turnaround.

Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids
The Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids works to change public attitudes and public policies on tobacco and strives to prevent kids from smoking, help smokers quit and protect everyone from secondhand smoke. The organization provides up-to-date news releases, special reports, research, facts, and a one-stop action center.

The Pennsylvania Alliance to Control Tobacco (PACT) is a statewide coalition dedicated to strengthening tobacco control laws across the Commonwealth. PACT provides information on tobacco control issues, resources, fact sheets, and opportunities to get involved.
