Tobacco Free Task
Force Purpose

To guide and support the primary contractor and associated service providers' tobacco prevention and cessation activities including, but not limited to: community needs and services assessments and primary contractor deliverables under each of the nine program components.

Tobacco Free Task Force Membership
The new Tobacco Free Task Force will serve as Washington County’s coalition, pulling together Washington County professionals and community members interested in tobacco use prevention and cessation to expand the Tobacco Free Program’s impact throughout the county. Tobacco Free Task Force members are expected to:
  • Attend and participate in at least half of the regularly scheduled Tobacco Free Task Force meetings

Read and review meeting materials ahead of time and contact staff with questions on materials, in order to be prepared to discuss at the meeting. If unable to attend, a task force member should submit updates or questions.

  • Assist in developing partnerships with various community based organizations
    1. Provide information and suggestions on opportunities to collaborate with community-based organizations.
    2. Serve as ambassadors to facilitate the initial steps in the development of these partnerships, as needed.
    3. Review the ongoing partnerships and collaborative efforts.
  • Participation in at least one Tobacco Free Program initiative

Become an Enforcement Compliance Check Volunteer
Youth and Adult Volunteers Needed for Enforcement Compliance Checks

If you would like to participate in checks on retailers to make sure tobacco products are not being sold to youth under age 18, please consider volunteering.

Permission forms required by the PA Department of Health must be completed in order to volunteer for Enforcement Compliance Checks (ECC). Under age buyers must complete the Youth Buyers form as well as the Parent/Guardian Permission form.

All youth must be between the ages of 14 to 17 yrs old. Some proof of age is required, such as, a copy of a birth certificate, driver license/permit, or baptismal certificate with date of birth. This volunteer activity may meet school community service project requirements.
